Everything you thought you knew about New Jersey – “fuggedaboutit!” When the rest of the world thinks about this state, they might picture factories or Tony Soprano. But we know differently.
The Garden State is defined by its residents are our experiences are as varied as the state’s landscape. Armed with backpacks full of cameras, audio recorders and microphones, we set out to ask the people of New Jersey what they really think about their home state.
Along the way, we found a big game hunter, a local pizza shop owner, a UFO chaser, a bookstore owner, the official state beekeeper and dozens of other people with unique and unexpected connections to New Jersey.
While our project does not come close to capturing the true diversity of the Garden State’s residents, we hope these profiles break down stereotypes and make you think more about the place you call home.
